Captive Husbandry Varanus Gilleni

I maintain a group of 2.1 Pygmy Mulga Monitors in a Custom Built Whiskey Barrel Enclosure measuring 2'L, 2'W, 3'H.

This Enclosure consists of a high basking shelf & multiple cork hollows.
A few Branches and Artificial Foliage complete the setup.

I maintain Ambient Temperatures of 80°F to 95°F, with Basking areas in excess of 130°F!

Day/Night Light Cycle is 12 on, 12 off.

The Entire Bottom of this Enclosure is 8" of Sandy Soil.

Soil Temperatures of 80°F to 90°F offers a Good Thermogradient for Nesting Females.

I Offer a Varied Diet Consisting of Roaches, Crickets, Chopped Pinkies, Fish, Quail and Quail eggs!

Pygmy Mulga Monitors are indigenous to the dry sandplaines of Central Australia!
