Captive Husbandry Varanus Jobiensis
Captive Husbandry of V. Jobiensis.
I currently house 1.3 V. Jobiensis in a Custom built Enclosure measuring 8’L, 4’W, 6’H.
With Large Poly tubs that hold the moist substrate consisting of Sandy Soil topped with leaf litter to help maintain proper humidity for digging and nesting.
A Large Kane heat panel on one side of the tub heats the substrate to 80°F to 95°F.
Ambient air temperature range from 80°F to 95°F with basking temperatures of 130°F.
Enclosure furnishings are Logs, Vines and several Cork tubes.
Along with lots of Faux Foliage that has 2 purposes.
It give them Visual barriers to help lower stress and for aesthetics!
Water Feature is a Large Black Mortar Tub with a drain that is plumbed to my sump pit.
This makes Daily Water changes an easy chore!
I feed my V. Jobiensis a wide variety of whole prey items consisting of Roaches, Quail, Quail eggs, some Rodents and Fish.
V. Jobiensis are Native to New Guinea.
I have successfully Bred V. Jobiensis.
